UPDATE: An ER doctor had her medical license permanently revoked by the state of New Jersey for allowing a 20-year-old patient to die on her watch and then trying to cover it up, authorities said. Shar Kennett, 66, of Wayne was on duty in the emergency room at Overlook Medical Center in Summit when the patient was brought in with urgent "respiratory distress" on June 29, 2017, Attorney General Matthew J. Man In Wheelchair Struck, Killed In Salem County
A 79-year-old man in a wheelchair was struck and killed by a car in Salem County, authorities said. Chester Avant, of Pedricktown, died from his injuries, according to New Jersey State Police. State Troopers were called to the intersection of New Road and Pennsville Pedtricktown Road in Oldmans Township at about 4:15 a.m. Monday, April 15, said Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron, a NJSP spokesman. A Buick was northbound on the Pennsville Pedricktown Road when it struck Avant, Lebron said. Lebron said no one else was injured. The incident remains under investigation.

Man Threatened To Stab Someone When Asked To Stop Smoking Weed In South Jersey Park: Police
An Atlantic County man was accused of threatening to stab another man with a pointed tool during an argument about smoking marijuana in a park, authorities said. Kevin McAnally, 56, of Absecon, was arrested on Tuesday, Apr. 16, the Absecon Police Department said in a news release. School Bus Carrying Students Bursts Into Flames On Garden State Parkway
Ten students and their bus driver were uninjured when their school bus burst into flames on the Garden State Parkway in Cape May County Wednesday, April 17, firefighters said. Firefighters and EMS units were dispatched to mile marker 20.8 south in Upper Township around 2:30 where the bus had erupted in flames, according to Seaville Fire Rescue. Heavy flames were shooting out of the bus when responders arrived, and all 10 students and the bus driver had already safely exited. A Port Newark mechanic who was convicted of ducking taxes on $2.5 million of income was sentenced to nearly 2½ years in federal prison. Jonathan Michael, 55, of Springfield had filed returns and paid his taxes without fail for decades, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a release. In 2014, however, he gave his employer in the machine shop at the Port Newark Container Terminal a bogus W-4 form, claiming that he was exempt from any federal income tax withholding from his pay, federal authorities said.
