GREENWICH, Conn. – French Cinema and a detective day for kids are among the events planned for the weekend in Greenwich. 

Friday

• Lecture on Colorectal Cancer, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Dr. Neal Schamberg will discuss detection and treatment of colorectal cancer; Greenwich Hospital Hyde Room; free

• Free exhibit tours at Bruce Museum, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.: Exhibit tours are free with price of admission on Fridays at the Bruce Museum; call 203-869-6786 for more information.

• Friday night games at the Greenwich Boys & Girls Club, 6 to 9 p.m.: Middle school members of the Boys & Girls Club can swim, participate in game room tournaments, and dodge ball games on Fridays at the clubhouse; call 203-869-3224 for more information.

• Focus on French Cinema Kick Off, 7 to 9 p.m.: It's an evening of champagne, discounted tickets and movie trailers to announce the lineup of films for the festival later this month; Greenwich Arts Council; free; call 203-629-3644 for more information.

• Old Greenwich Lions Club 52nd Annual Pancake Fry, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Pancake fry, door prizes, bake sale and entertainment; Greenwich Civic Center, 90 Harding Road, Old Greenwich; $8 for adults, $1 discount for children ages 6-11, and free admission for kids under 5.

• Greenwich Academy ESF Summer Camps Open House, 1 p.m.: Stop by and take a tour of ESF Summer Camp site at 20 N. Maple Ave.; enter a drawing for a chance to win a free week of camp; free.

• U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal at Greenwich Reform Synagogue, 10:30 a.m.: Blumenthal will speak to adults and teens about his recent trip to the Middle East and discuss what inspired him to enter politics; 257 Stanwich Road; free.

• Purim Carnival, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: More than 200 congregants, including Temple Sholom Religious School students, Selma Maisel Nursery School students and their families, will be on site for a morning of carnival fun in honor of the Jewish festival of Purim. Children in costume will enjoy face painting, games, prizes, snacks and arts and crafts projects; 300 E. Putnam Ave.; call 203-542-7169.

• Junior Detective Day at Greenwich Historical Society, 1 and 4 p.m.: Help find a letter stolen from the “Everyday Heroes” exhibition with techniques real police use to solve the mystery; $15 members, $10 nonmembers; Greenwich Historical Society.
