GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Greenwich YWCA Dolphins Swim Team’s Meghan Lynch, 10, posted the first national age group record of her young career, a 1:08.07 clocking in the 100-yard breaststroke, in the 2014 United States Swimming Eastern Zone Short Course Swimming Championships held at Webster Aquatic Center in Webster, N.Y.

Lynch, who lives in Greenwich, shattered the former mark of 1:09.79 held by Annie Zhu, then of the LaGuardia Aquatic Club of New York, N.Y.

Zhu is now a sophomore at the University of Georgia, where she is a four time All-American and recently helped the Lady Bulldogs to their sixth national championship title. In Day 1 Action at the Zone Meet, Lynch narrowly missed the national age group records n the 50 breast and 200 individual medley. Lynch also anchored the CT Zone squad’s 200 free relay with 25.62 split, winning gold at 1:47.09. In other Day 2 action Lynch won the 100 individual medley at 1:03.70; the 200 free at 2:02.50. Two weeks ago at the Connecticut State Age Group Championships, Lynch claimed 10 gold medals, including six individual golds in the 10-and-under class winning the 10-and-under 50-yard Breaststroke (32.76); 100-Breaststroke (1:10.69); 100-Individual Medley (1:04.54); 200 individual medley (2:20.25); 200 freestyle (2:04.15) and the 500 freestyle (5:39.74) as well as four relay titles with GYWD.
