Pearl River Firefighter Accused Of DWI After Early Morning Crash

PEARL RIVER, N.Y. – A Pearl River firefighter is facing a misdemeanor driving while intoxicated charge after losing control of his car on Orangeburg Road, according to lohud.com.

Eric Chanin, a volunteer Pearl River firefighter, was arrested early Saturday after crashing his car on Orangeburg Road. He faces a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated.

Volunteer firefighter Eric Chanin was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center after the 5 a.m. crash Saturday, according to lohud.com.

The 23-year-old, whose car was said to have gone airborne before striking a tree and rolling over, suffered nonlife-threatening injuries, according to lohud.com, which reported that firefighters needed to free Chanin from the car.

Chanin, who was the only person involved in the crash, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DWI, according to lohud.com.
