William Wallace, 86, Westport WWII Vet, Business Owner

WESTPORT, Conn. – William E. Wallace, a lifelong Westport resident, died Feb. 2 at home, surrounded by his family. He was 86.

He was born June 8, 1926, to William and Florence Vanak Wallace. He served in the Navy during World War II and was the owner of Town and Country Refuse for many years. He was married to Marie DeMace Wallace, who predeceased him.

Wallace was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Southport Volunteer Fire Department and State Police Auxiliary. He was also an avid gardener.

Wallace is survived by five daughters, Marcia Ball, of Westport, Patty Rodgers, of Westport, Mary Marcinkowski, of Milford, Conn., June Bosik, of Stratford, Conn., and Lisa Klein, of Monroe, Conn.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Harding Funeral Home in Westport. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Assumption Church in Westport. Burial will follow at Willowbrook Cemetery.
