Stop For Brake Light Out On Vehicle Leads To DUI Charge For Man In Greenwich

A 48-year-old man ended up in handcuffs after a non-functioning brake light led to his arrest for alleged drunk driving in Greenwich.

Jeffrey McCarroll, of Broad Brook, Connecticut was arrested on Thursday after Greenwich Police officers spotted him driving on West Putnam Avenue with a brake light out, said Greenwich Lt. John Slusarz. 

Officers attempted to stop McCarroll who failed to stop for several blocks. Once he came to a stop, officers found that he had glassy, bloodshot eyes and the odor of alcoholic emanating from his breath, police said.

He also was unable to perform field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest.

McCarroll was charged with DUI and improper stop, failure to have a signal lamp. 

He was released on $250 and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 12.
