Port Chester Felon Gets 3 Years In Prison For Stamford Gun Arrest

STAMFORD, Conn. -- A convicted drug felon from New York found guilty of illegally possessing a loaded Glock .45-caliber pistol in Stamford was sentenced Tuesday to three years in prison.

Juan Quinones, 43, of Port Chester, will also have three years of supervised release following his imprisonment, said Dieirdre Daly, U.S. Attorney for Connecticut.

Quinones was arrested after Stamford Police discovered the loaded gun along with distribution quantities of heroin and crack cocaine, during a court-authorized search of a local motel on Sept. 15, 2015, Daly said.

It's a violation of federal law for a felon to possess a firearm and ammunition.

He has been detained since his arrest, held on $250,000 bond. He pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon on Sept. 8.

Quinones was a high-ranking gang member of the Bloods and the gun was reportedly stolen out of Greenwich, according to the Stamford Advocate.

The matter was investigated by the Stamford Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Douglas P. Morabito.
