Greenwich Police Seek Red Or Burgundy Pontiac In Fatal Hit-And-Run

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Greenwich police were looking for a Pontiac G6 in connection with a hit-and-run car accident in a Byram parking lot early Saturday in which a 21-year-old woman was dragged to her death, police said.

The car is from 2005 to 2010 and is either burgundy or dark red in color, police said. 

"We continue to investigate a fatal hit and run motor vehicle pedestrian accident that occurred Saturday morning in the Byram section of town located along the N.Y. border and adjacent to I-95," the Greenwich Police Department said on its website page."Investigation has determined the evading vehicle is likely a Pontiac G6 Model Year 2005-2010 either burgundy or dark red in color. The vehicle has tinted windows and is believed to be bearing front and rear Connecticut license plates."

The woman, a college student from Middlebury, was hit as she retrieved items from a car parked in the William Street municipal parking lot in Byram at about 2 a.m. Dec. 27, police said. She was dragged through the lot, down William Street onto Mill Street, police said. She was dragged more than three blocks down Mill Street before the car stopped near the former Hasco Electric Co., police said. 

The driver fled the scene, police said. The woman was transported to the Stamford Hospital Emergency Room. Her identity has not been released by police.

The vehicle involved was low to the ground with chrome wheels, and the front air dam may be damaged, police said.

The driver was described as male with light to medium complexion and dark short hair, wearing a long sleeve shirt and a gold chain with a cross, according to police.
