43-Year-Old Man Critically Injured In Hit-Run Bridgeport Crash

Police are asking the public for help in finding the driver responsible for slamming into a pedestrian and then fleeing the scene in Bridgeport.

The incident took place around 5:49 p.m. Friday on Washington Avenue, just west of the intersection with James Street, said Av Harris, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police.

During the incident, a pedestrian was struck and seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver in a black four-door vehicle while crossing Washington Avenue, Harris said.

The pedestrian, identified as Raymond F. Benson, 43, was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital where he’s listed in serious but stable condition.
