The incident took place at 8:45 a.m. Thursday when police were called to a residence on the East Side with information that a child was injured, said Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin.
When officers arrived they found the child had climbed up a dresser, causing it to tip, and fall on top of the boy, along with an old-fashioned heavy television that was on top, severely injuring the toddler, Conklin said.
The child was rushed to Stamford Hospital where he was then flown to Yale-New Haven Hospital for advanced treatment.
Conklin said as of late Thursday the boy was still in critical condition.
