Theresa Servidio, 97, Lifelong Cos Cob Resident

GREENWICH, Conn. – Theresa Josephine Servidio, a lifelong resident of Cos Cob, died Wednesday. She was 97 years old.

Servidio was born May 20, 1913, to Peter and Mary Sarpelli, the owners of Scarpelli’s Tavern & Grocery Store in Cos Cob. She graduated from Cos Cob School and Shorts Secretarial School in Stamford. She worked briefly for the City of Stamford in the data processing department.

Servidio was a member of the St. Lawrence Women’s Society in Cos Cob and was a lifelong member of St. Catherine’s Church in Riverside, where she volunteered at the “Next to New Shop” for many years.

Her husband of 59 years, Joseph, died in 1996.

She is survived by two sons, Gerald Servidio and Thomas Servidio and his wife, Carol; two grandchildren, Gerald R. Servidio and Tara Mulcahey; two great-grandchildren, Ryan Thomas and Aidan Patrick Mulcahey; her brother, Peter (Mac) Scarpelli, and many nieces and nephews. 

A Mass was celebrated Monday at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside. Interment followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Theresa Servidio's name to either the Smith House Health Care Center, 88 Rockrimmon Road, Stamford, CT 06903 or to Masonicare Home Health & Hospice, C/O The Masonic Charity Foundation of Connecticut, 74 Cheshire Road, PO Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492.
