One Injured As CTTransit Bus Crash In Greenwich Wipes Out Utility Pole

Soundview Drive remains closed Saturday as repair work continues after the bus snapped a utility pole after sliding on slick roads. 

Eversource is still reporting 34 power outages in Greenwich.

original story: GREENWICH, Conn. – At least one person was injured after a CTTransit bus crashed into a utility pole on Saturday morning in Greenwich after it slid on slick, snowy roads, police said. 

The bus snapped the pole, closing Soundview Drive from Field Point Road and Arch Street with the pole and several wires down, police said. 

The CTTransit bus slid down the hill with seven passengers aboard, police said. One passenger was injured and sent to Stamford Hospital with possible internal injuries, police said.

The crash involved several utility poles, and police urged drivers to avoid the area. It is expected to be closed for a while, perhaps for the duration of the storm, police said.

A nor'easter hit the coastline early Saturday and is expected to drop 8 to 12 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service. 

Eversource is reporting 178 power outages in Greenwich as of 10:30 a.m., most likely associated with the downed power lines.
