Realtor Writes What She Knows

Carolyn Anderson knows and loves Greenwich. As a Realtor specializing in the community and the driving force behind the "Anderson Guide to Enjoying Greenwich Connecticut," she proves it.

“We have a lot of fun writing the Guide," said Anderson, seated in the conference room at her Anderson Associates real estate office at 164 Mason St. "It's not just names and addresses, it is filled with tips, reviews, and notes we hope will be helpful."

The eighth, and largest, edition of the guide will hit shelves in October. It serves as a comprehensive guide to all things Greenwich: from dining to government. It started as an easy reference for common questions.

"Every single day there would be someone calling and asking, 'Where should I send my child for nursery school? What do you think?'" Anderson Associate Vice President Amy Zeeve said. She penned most of the original booklet in 1997 and has helped write the subsequent volumes. Her now-10-year-old son, Charlie, has graced at least two covers.

In October, it will be three covers. Charlie is pictured in full football regalia on the front of the eighth edition. According to Anderson, the restaurant and sports and recreation sections have grown significantly. A website, www.GreenwichGuide.com, posts updates to the current edition.

Anderson also now compiles the "Anderson Guide to Volunteers." With one edition in circulation, plans are under way to write a follow-up soon. "The volunteers are the heart and soul of Greenwich,"Anderson said.

A list of places to purchase the Anderson guides is available at www.GreenwichGuide.com/WhereToBuy.htm.
