GREENWICH, Conn. -- 'Tis the season for entertaining, so why not make it easy on yourself?
So says Greenwich resident Victoria Amory of Victoria Amory & Co ., a gourmet food company known for its Mediterranean-inspired condiments and sauces.
Amory, who is originally from Madrid, launched her line in January 2014 after a school fundraising effort sold more than 200 jars of savory sauces in 10 minutes.
The former freelance writer said condiments and sauces are "the perfect way to add character to dishes."
What follows are a few recipe ideas from her collection just in time for the holidays.
Smokey BBQ Meatballs: Dressing up store-bought items and making them your own is the core of "effortless entertaining," the best of "elevating everyday ingredients to everyday feasts" and the sure way to impress family and friends, writes Amory on her website.
"I love turkey meatballs because they are light, flavorful and a much healthier alternative to their all-beef cousins. I brown them in a pan with a drizzle of olive oil and then toss them with my smokey BBQ ketchup. Serve them with a warm baguette and settle in to watch your favorite movie."
Champagne Turkey Burger: "Champagne and turkey? Absolutely! Mix a couple of tablespoons to your ground turkey meat before you cook it for an amazing, flavorful, juicy and all around delicious burger. I love it served with tomato and avocado slices and a dollop of Roasted Garlic Mayonnaise."
Three Ketchups Chicken Wings: "Watching the game? Feed your family and friends in a few easy steps. Just brush chicken wings with a different ketchup, place in the oven until cooked through and serve."
Sherry Ketchup Potatoes: "What could be easier than oven roasted potatoes? Dress the potatoes with minced parsley, olive oil and sea salt. Bake in the oven until crispy on the outside and soft inside. Serve them with a little bowl of Sherry ketchup and a bowl of Roasted Garlic Mayonnaise."
Champagne Ketchup Bloody Bull: "A classic winter drink, Blood-bull is a mixture between Bull-shot and Bloody Mary. I love it at lunch time on one of those lazy weekends when a nap after lunch is the only way to spend Saturday afternoon. It's also perfect for a chilly day."
In a cocktail shaker, mix together two tablespoons Champagne Ketchup, one cup beef consommé, the juice of one lemon, and a few grinds of pepper and vodka. Shake well and pour over ice.
