Girls In Greenwich Can Learn How Positive Thinking Improves Self-Esteem

GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Junior League of Greenwich recently launched a community project designed to help young girls build self-esteem. The name of the project is Positively More, and it focuses on girls ages 11 and 12.  

The aim of the Positively More project is to give girls the tools to avoid questionable situations, lessen the consequences of conflicts and identify lessons learned by challenges.

Its aim is to give girls the tools to avoid questionable situations, lessen the consequences of conflicts and identify lessons learned by challenges, according to a release from the Junior League.

A young girl can attend one of the four sessions offered at Junior League headquarters between November and April. The sessions run from 9:30 a.m. -  3:30 p.m. and are free to members of the community.  Snacks and lunch will be served to all who attend.

Session dates for 2016-17:  Nov. 5., Jan. 28, March 4 and April 29.

Each session will consist of workshops moderated by  professionals, including Beth O’Malley, psychotherapist and radio show host of "Be Well with Beth" WGCH; Jenny Byxbee, manager of the Youth Services Bureau for the Town of Greenwich; Sara Rawson, occupational therapist; and Yajaira Gonzalez, community educator and bilingual advocate for the YWCA Greenwich Domestic Abuse Services.

Friend groups are encouraged to sign up together. However, sessions are filling up fast, so those planning attend a session should sign up today.

It is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained individuals. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
