The southbound plaza is the 17th of 23 Connecticut highway service plazas to be completely renovated. The Greenwich plaza on the northbound side of the Merritt reopened in January.

“We are very excited that both of the plazas on the Merritt in Greenwich are now complete and serving travelers. The plazas in Greenwich, as well as all of our plazas, provide great food choices, clean restrooms, fuel and convenience,”  said Paul Landino, president and CEO of Project Service, the company performing the renovations, in a statement. “More than half of the service plazas in the state have been completed renovated, and we look forward to our ongoing renovation effort as we continue to serve those traveling on Connecticut’s highways."

The southbound plaza in Greenwich includes a Subway, Dunkin’ Donuts, Alltown Convenience Store and ExxonMobil gas station.

Six more service plazas are still undergoing renovations in Madison, Fairfield and New Canaan on the Merritt Parkway. These plazas will reopen in late 2014 or early 2015.
