GREENWICH, Conn. -- Hostess gifts are the primary focus at Zeste , a new shop on William Street in Greenwich.
Owner Stephanie Finkelstein, who previously owned a shop in Southhampton, N.Y., said she had been looking at the neighborhood around Greenwich Hospital for a long time. "I didn't want to be on Greenwich Avenue as it's gotten too commercialized," she said. "I wanted to be in a neighborhood."
So, after much looking, Finklestein, who grew up in Harrison, N.Y., said she found this gem of a spot and opened up shop in early November. "We're only 300 square feet," she said, "But I love the coziness of it."
She also loves stocking it with the kind of gifts you can't find elsewhere. Expect to find items ranging from $10 to $250, everything from frames to books to bath and body products to gourmet candies and stocking stuffers.
Finkelstein is also making a concerted effort to carry as many "Made in America" items as she can along with local goods. "I have a lot of contacts from the Hamptons I am bringing out here," she said.
As Small Business Saturday approaches (it's Nov. 28) she's looking forward to more people discovering her. "I want people to know they can come in and buy a little something, then come back again and buy something else. This is not a place for big ticket items."
In the spirit of her store -- she named it "Zeste" and gave it the French spelling -- the boutique is all about adding a little "zest" to your life.
Zeste is at 58A William St., Greenwich, (203) 626-4611 www.zeste203.com/ .
