FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — It looks like the weekend's dreary weather will stick around for another few days in Fairfield County, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain, drizzle and fog were on tap for the overnight as a warm front slowly approaches from the south. Temperatures will remain nearly steady or slowly rise overnight to the upper 30s to lower 40s.

By Monday, a weak area of low pressure will keep rain in the forecast, with the best chance in the morning into early afternoon with more fog likely.

Temperatures will be warmer, with upper 40s to lower 50s.

Unsettled conditions continue into Tuesday as a cold front approaches from the west, with temperatures continuing to warm. However, skies will continue to be mostly cloudy with a 4o percent to 50 percent chance of rain.

Here is the detailed forecast for the start of the workweek in Fairfield County: 

  • On Monday, rain with areas of drizzle through 2 p.m., then a chance of showers after 2 p.m. Areas of fog before 2 p.m. and a high near 51. The chance of rain is 100 percent. About a quarter-inch to a half-inch of rain is possible.
  • On Monday night, there is a chance of showers into the evening with patchy fog. Cloudy, with a low around 45. 
  • On Tuesday, there is a 40 percent chance of rain, mainly after noon and into the evening. Areas of fog before noon. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 58. By evening, temperatures will drop to around 40.
  • On Wednesday, it will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 52.
