Almost all of Astorino's campaign staff have gotten appointments. Both parties do it. Proof that term limits are the only way to go. And don't get me started on full-time state legislators - I'm just sayin'.. View Comment
LoGuidice had no part of the hiring decision! It was all up to the Fire Commissioners. After lawyer fees and taxes (yes, because he claimed loss of wages), Hecht will see about $165k or about two years worth of salary. This of course will be paid for by the insurance company. But why did they settle? View Comment
While helping businesses is what most politicians seem anxious to do, they forget that the resident taxpayers are funding this type of action(s). The tax situation locally, in Westchester and New York State is out of control! We "give away" free health care, condoms, housing, food, etc., to anybody who asks for it. Enough already! Reduce the size and scope of government, its perks and start helping the individuals afford to be able to live here. View Comment
Here's the quote from PF: "Members of the Town Board and I have not made any decisions on whether to approve or reject the petition," Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner said. This is an outright lie. He was in favor of it when he tried to illegally lease the property to them, then sell it to them at an undervalued price, the put it on the ballot as a proposition, then refuse to entertain the House of Sports offer for double the amount plus remediation, then skew the contamination study to move the process along for GO365, and finally to have an "auction" until the auctioneer said no one would bid for contaminated land and finally, when TL said remediation costs would be no more than $100k. They have been doing everything they could to give this land to GO365. Try writing the real story! View Comment
First, why would you only put Abinanti's picture in the article? Second, he states, ""It has yet to be shown it can be done safely without negative impacts on the water and air," Abinanti said. "The need for cheaper energy is met by an environmentally unsound practice." This is not true. There have been NO incidents of fracking that has contaminated water where fracking was done. Third, he states, "The state still has not repaired the damage to our infrastructure..." HE is the state representative that hasn't repaired the damage!!! There's no way we should sent him back to Albany. In fact, we should just send him packing. It time for something different. It's time for Duffy. View Comment
And what have our political leaders done to address flooding in our area? Nothing but talk about it every time it rains. And Joe, what have you done to hold their feet to the fire? Nothing but regurgitate the same story over and over again. View Comment
Read the more and the comments that Ross made at ABetterGreenburgh.blogspot.com. They broke this story wide open. The Daily Voice's one paragraph blip doesn't do the entire episode justice. View Comment
You grant Feiner carte blanche with your site for a year at no charge and now you are linking to the writings of other organizations. ???? Your first business model failed and this one is going to go down in flames too. You had the opportunity to break the mold and you did. You just went in the wrong direction again. Adios. View Comment
You're so full of it you wreak! Our great Town employees are the heros here and you cost us more and more money: $6.5 MILLION in the Fortress Bible decision; 3.6 MILLION lost from WestHelp; $3.5 MILLION lost with Frank's Nursery NOT being sold while you give your developer friends all kinds of breaks. That's a lot of black top that won't be put down! And, you jerk, this is not for repaving, but filling potholes. You're a joke - its just not funny! View Comment
Joe, to your points:
1) the 2% Property Tax Cap is disingenuous as it has to many exceptions that don't actually force a municipality to adhere to 2%.
2) Tax free enterprise zones force us, the taxpayer to make up the balance of what these entities don't pay. Plus they are mostly within university properties which translates to cheap college labor and an abundance of part-time jobs, not full time.
3) The HUD issue has never been covered fairly (my opinion) and only portrays Astorino in a negative light. And maybe capitulating to the demands of big government may not seem to be an issue for you, Meehan was right when he refuses the aid because of the strings attached to it.
4) The use of numbers that are reprinted both online and in print without being challenged is situation created by and condoned by the online editors and the print editors who allow it. Shame on them.
The problem we have with the media is the one-sided-ness of promoting certain politicians over another and not evenly covering all players. You just offered Paul Feiner carte blanche by offering him a platform with this site. And after you've got him hooked for free as "an experiment", like any junkie, you then want to charge us $2k per month. Even though you'll tout standards that will be in place, it is not something that should happen. View Comment
OUR hope in Greenburgh is that you hold yourself and your board to this same standard, keeping a log and publicizing it. How ironic that you receive almost the same amount of money and are only campaigning daily. WE all wish you would stop showing up. YOU are getting paid and we have worse government than the County. The fact that the Greenburgh Daily Voice even prints your garbage proves they are just as corrupt as you are. View Comment
They've added more trains during OFF peak times to bolster their on-time "ratings", which are horrible. It used to be "switch problems" when it was cold. Then it was equipment trouble in the heat. It seems that they can only operate when it is sunny and 70° out. The cars and the seats are filthy - look at the crud on the headrests. Yuck! There's never any seats during rush hour; and because they've added trains, the tracks are more congested, forcing them all to crawl from station to station. It must be time for a fare increase, no? This is a waste of time. We're having a resurgence because of availability and a higher level of drugs of drugs getting into the US. Plus, a higher level of income provides the "seed" money to start dabbling. Its once they are addicted that the crimes start. PSH was an a**hole. HE chose to stick the needle into his arm. He chose to hurt his wife/girlfriend. HE chose to abandon his kids. HE chose to die. Stop making him out to be the victim. HE is the perpetrator here. View Comment
She can almost get away with breaking the law as much as Paul Feiner. She's guilty but they have to play the game so they can buy off her not guilty verdict or guilty and community service verdict. Such a shame – only in NY! View Comment
