Its a report that costs money to prepare how could it show anything negative?
Those jobs in Sono were at best minimum to what was going to be created, and this who worked Iron Works, just ask the police dept when they were arrested for crimes they came from out of state.
The site currently produces approximately $150,000 in annual city tax revenues but what do we have too do for an empty lot?No fire police or EMS and besides we have no one telling us what the projected need for emergency services after the mall is in.
Nice report but someone who wants to pay for another for the negative thoughts on this could certainly come up with many reasons why not a mall at this point.
Who is going to clean up the ground and stop the Oyster shell chemicals from seeping into the underground parking garages?
Norwalk is ripe to pick on by these vultures, like we haven't had enough from POKO and Segalson, good luck Norwalkers once it done the city shall be ready for bankruptcy,
Who is going to pay for additional services the city needs now,not after this trojan horse is built?
good luck Brian ,anyone who is leading the Aquarium still has to consider the three hazardous waste cells buried in the river 50 feet out in the Norwalk river next to the Oyster shell hazardous waste site that still contains chemicals buried there. When Norwalk wants to address this issue with Duff Perone Morris and Himes it will be too late these politicians will have left office leaving behind one of the largest messes they all ignored in their time in office.
Now that the power plant is closed who is testing for waste there? Maybe the Aquarium can help out the state and start testing the waters,Milfords lab was still in boxes from a move years ago the State has clearly no interest in taking care of Norwalk, until Norwalk takes care of its own,and yes that costs money there will always be that doubt that Norwalk has cleaned up its act.
Look at the cancer rate, those old timers in Norwalk if you consider 50 old time are now passing by the dozens this is right? View Comment
Alanta just reported a large windfall from taxing fireworks.Bob Duff should realize his love for casino money has dried up,and taxing other things like fireworks is a no brainer. But if your using your head for anything but slight of hand on our taxes maybe its time to go home Bob pass out ice cream and look upon what you have done to Ct.
Voters are not stupid just read the news View Comment
This is why Ct needs to vote republican next time,Democrtas have had their way and didn't even bother asking those in their own part if they liked what was done.Duff has spent most of his time acting like a school yard bully, something most democratic voters who are losing their investment in Ct can't accept anymore. shows how backwards Ct really is,some states for the first year made it legal and guess what they got taxes for the first time on stuff legal or not gets sold this time of year.
This points back to Bob Duff not knowing how to run State,if he was smart taxes that could of been isn't.This is going to be Bobs legacy as he slides down the political ladder.I'd start using his lawn signs for bean stakes if you want to see any progress from this politician. View Comment
Chris said he supports legislation, his own ideas never make it to the floor simply look at the facts. This is all a political stunt when you tug on heart strings of others who will vote for you no matter what the truth is.Blind leadership = blind voting and if you look at Norwalk its blind View Comment
all well and good intentions but the cleanup should be before any restoration .Buried hazardous waste seeping out of Oyster shell and the suspected material in brownields and places like vets park all need a plan.Where is that plan boys?
People have made money off of Norwalks ills yet nothing has been cleaned up just ignored thats not progress.
Cells of hazardous waste sits in the middle of the river near the aquarium that someday has to be disposed of covering it up only makes the story go away.
Are we so politician empty we have to rely on these guys? Not in our lifetime is the secret cleanup time line folks. As long as there are politicians who stand there and tell us what we need not what is needed to turn the sound around.
Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) knows Norwalk well and the tons of hazardous material its dumped in long island sound and has stopped some waste from going to the sound altogether.
Whats Bob Duff know NECN does articles on lobstermen all the time the information the facts the truth Bob never talks about where is the honesty in all of this?
Thats right its election time where facts and honesty takes a back seat while trying to buy a vote.
This is progress?Terry Backer had a fan in Startford he was always uncovering the real deal with Terry but that nan has passed leaving the past undisturbed for this article its a shame what has gone on over the years, nothing but smoking mirrors and empty promised for the fishermen.Ask the they will tell you about the sound they are there every day.Not just at election time with distorted facts only a democrat will consume before the next election.
What about the hazardous waste cells buried in the Norwalk river next to a hazardous waste site called Oyster shell park? We never see press there.
This is a bill not written in stone, may be the only thing Murphy can pass other than gas for Norwalk. View Comment
You would think storm and tornados would be on everyones mind right now for those who can't travel.Professional firefighters work every day to get the message out tips checking smoke alarms where you stay be a camp cottage or local destination.Last place we stayed the ice bucket plastic bag was on the smoke detector, calling the front desk told us its normal so the alarm doesn't go off.Needless to say Marriot corp reacted the right way and corrected it on their own.
With gas powered equipment such as generators chain saws lawn mowers boats all have warnings as well but not to worry we will see that posting in Dec.
Right now one warning would be fireworks and fire pits they have had fatal results in numerous reports in June and seem to be rising as the summer progresses.
When does Norwalks new fire chief start? View Comment
Gail is right ,its hard not to point the finger at Duff and say he is an idiot she does well.To think the casino card will fix Ct is a huge mistake.New rules on Indian casinos is coming from Washington our own Ct Democrat is leading the charge, whats that tell you?
That Blumey won't be at Duffs ice cream event this year, only in Norwalk where voters are simply stupid for letting the current elected officials rule and drive Ct into the ground. View Comment
Florida has added 879,700 jobs, taxes have decreased and home prices have gone up, Scott said. What about Ct in the same time period?
“You can change an election,” too bad that advice wasn't headed last election ,now look what we have
Dump Duff should be Ct war cry next election,if not plan on moving to Fla.
