Red Apples know what's best for Norwalk. They are the experts in everything. AND they will be happy to tell you so....over and over and over again. Bullies? They need to look in the mirror to find the worst of the bullies. Transparency? They are not transparent. Look at the Red Apple on the BoE who just spent 45,000 dollars in taxpayers money on additional legal fees for negotiations without consulting anyone else on the Board. Lisa Thomson, there are ten bad habits of the Red Apples! View Comment
Too bad you chose such a low level thinking contest. Perhaps you need to leave the educational planning to the real educators. No offense intended, just trying to control those who think they know what's best for education. View Comment
First of all, Steve, if you don't mind, the correct grammar is, 'He does pretty well with it.' Secondly, that is no argument for people with disabilities. Glad your friend does well with his dyslexia. So many people do not. Would you ask those people who are truly dyslexic to compete in a speed reading competition? View Comment
A spelling bee? After 5th grade, spelling and intelligence are inversely related. With spell checkers, is spelling really that important anymore? Is this the best idea an education foundation can come up with? Sorry, not something I would be interested in. I would hope for some activity that is based not only on recall. Educators know that recall is a lower order thinking skill! View Comment
Another feather in The Interim Superintendent's cap! Norwalk finally has a superintendent who works well with all parties in the city. So why the nationwide search? View Comment
So many creative ways to schedule come to mind if an additional hour is added to the school day. At the end of the day, students could participate in music, art and gym, leaving the best hours for learning in the morning. Teachers could have different hours during the workday, with the art teachers arriving later later in the day. In depth learning with hands on projects, reading/writing projects, real life math projects.....Wow! The possibilities sound fabulous! I would be majorly excited to have an additional hour of learning. View Comment
The photo is really a bad choice...very misleading. For those who don't bother reading the facts, it would appear that there are classes of 30. Not true! View Comment
The Interim needs to apply. He is doing a really good job. First time I can say that about a superintendent since.....hmmmmm.....since a very long time ago. View Comment
He holds people accountable, but does not publicize that he is doing it. He works well with unions, but gets things done! He knows the community, the staff and the expectations of the State Dept of Ed. He is a tireless worker for the good of the students. He makes decisions! While not all will agree with his decisions, he makes them in such a way that they are respected. He has a consistent message on the focus for the administrators and the teachers. Daddona has not publicized his behind the scenes work, but he has been doing and accomplishing. He has made enemies, but people who hold others accountable and who make decisions do make some enemies. View Comment
Daddona made a good speech. Surprised that this reporter did not focus on that. He is one of our own and teachers felt comforted that he knows the district and can lead us in the right direction. View Comment
Lots of misinformation here. First of all, there has to be a paper trail to even put an administrator on intervention, let alone fire him/her. Daddona was not the elementary principal evaluator until last school year. There were Directors of Elementary Education, namely Carol Marinacchio and Hugh McKiernan. They were the evaluators of the elementary principals, and allegedly gave glowing reviews to this principal. If the principal had been fired, there would be a huge law suit. Lack of information is dangerous! Be careful not to jump to conclusions that are highly inaccurate View Comment
Susan Marks was not a leader. She allowed the Apples to dominate her thinking and decision making process while she was in Norwalk and that was her downfall. As I hear it, the RedApples will be applesauce under the Dadonna superintendency, and they are running scared. Good! View Comment
Tony is an excellent choice. He holds people accountable. He gets things done. We need to support him and let him get to work on making Norwalk child centered. View Comment
