Rob, try to keep up. The 'rate' makes for a great headline. The actual number of jobs dropped. There are fewer jobs. The 'rate' went down, because the pool shrunk....in part because people gave up looking for work and are eliminated from the calculation. View Comment
"....as the number of jobs declined".
The "rate" declined because people dropped out of the workforce equation. State spending is up and now there are fewer full time wage earners to pay the tab. part time jobs counted as full time is not telling the story.

The democrats FREAKED OUT when the rate of growth of federal spending was trimmed in the sequester. Mind you, those are not cuts...just reductions in the rate of growth.
If you, however, favor limited government, conservatives would welcome you....liberals will not. View Comment
Broad River is a statist who believes he is entitled to someone else's toil and doesn't have the foggiest idea why the market is at 15k...
You might want to read up on the actions of the Fed and how their printing...along with the underfunded pensions....the empty social security lockbox....and other feel good liberal programs are hurting the very people they claim to want to help.
And before you return to the statist screed about the 1 percent, you need to understand that you could confiscate 100percent of their income and only solve the spending problem for a matter of days. View Comment
Shocker. One of the bluest of the blue states.
We are also the third worst state in the county w/r/t pension (under) funding.
Liberalism eventually runs out of other peoples money to spend.... View Comment
High taxing and high spending are the hallmarks of liberalism...our high taxes are hardly due to (moderate) republican governors. We are talking decades of buildup.
And it continues...
Malloy just paid millions of our tax dollars to buy jobs (so he can campaign about job growth) with credits, grants and zero interest, forgivable "loans".
This will get paid for eventually with even higher taxes. View Comment
Voting liberal guarantees high taxes....and slow job growth ( unless you buy the jobs as the Gov did recently.....ensuring higher taxes down the road to pay for the giveaway).
It's no wonder more people have enrolled on food stamps than found work over the last few years. Liberal economic policy sounds good...lots of free stuff, compassion from the state, etc..but eventually, you're left with the insiders and the dependent.... View Comment
Agree we must compete and that lowering costs are a key component. All for that. Lets cut taxes, not raise them.
But we have just paid to get a business and its employees here....and will proceed to raise individual and property taxes on those new residents (and everyone else) To cover. The business gets the break...and to think there's no quid pro quo is naive. The Gov will be a big beneficiary, too.
Net net. The big winner here is the governor's campaign fund....higher tax rates will continue to drive individuals out of state...creating more need for the next governor to giveaway even more free stuff.
Cut rates....not deals. View Comment
Wasn't it the Democrats who elected the KKK Grand Klegal to the US Senate.....8 times?
With such an unbalanced view of the political landscape, it's no wonder democrats elected a Congressman who worried during testimony on the Hill that if the military kept sending troops and supplies to Guam, the entire island might capsize. ( rep. Hank Johnson, democrat) View Comment
So the no interest "loan" is forgivable. In other words, it's an $8,000,000.00 gift from the taxpayers to this company? And we are just flat out giving them another $3,500,000.00 to move here.
Our taxes are going to go up.....now we know where the money is going. The Malloy cash giveaway-for-campaign contribution re election fund. View Comment
According to this article, 41,000 jobs created
According to The JournalInquirer, the number of Food Stamp recipients is running at 56,000+ since 2011 alone.
They quote that food stamp enrollment is growing 50 percent FASTER than job growth in CT.
Folks, did not say the sequester cut the budget deficit in half.....try to read before spewing hate.
As we say, just get the economy rolling and revenue will flow in. Grow your way out of the hole is the best method. Instead, we are trying to raise headwinds to business, raise taxes and are advertising to get people ON food stamps. we have leadership who believes that unemployment is " the best form of stimulus". That's not how you build a sustainable economy. That's how to build government dependency. If you believe that's the best way forward, fine.
Oh, and the Fed is printing $85,000,000,000 per month. That pretty much swallows up any deficit trimming numbers we may be discussing. Sorry kids. The left wants to spend your money....and they are, by the truckload....every day.
Numbers always hit a nerve with the left....who chose to be driven by emotion.
More food stamps recipients added than jobs "sounds pretty good" to the left.
Admitting it is your first step. View Comment
It's sad that the president takes claim to reductions.
1 the results are driven by the sequester which the left was forced to accept....kicking and screaming.
2. The left is, today, demanding that those very reductions be reversed....as part of the shutdown negotiations...and that spending ( and deficits) be INCREASED.
