Why do we put people on paid leave when they work for a municipality so much? We give people from street sweepers to police paid vacations when they abuse our trust, thats absurd. Accelerated rehab is fine but they should simply lose their jobs when in such trusted positions. If I had children in that school Id be very very upset if these lowlifes were overseeing them. Another upstanding resident of Roodner court. Just think how nice Norwalk would be without taxpayer funded violent criminal breeding grounds. Of course they won't be going anywhere though because their presence brings in grants that are more important to our local legislators, Mayor and other city leaders than creating a nice safe city for the taxpayers. This is a great program and very worthy, especially in an environment such as ours where the State Govt taxes so many into poverty and cuts education as a way to minimize the effect of their irresponsible governance. Ironically Bob Duff and most of the other politicians in attendance are directly responsible for the cost of living in CT. Almost like they intentionally create needy people so they can boast about helping them while driving taxes ever higher with programs to help the needy created by their failure to act in our best interests. There are no cost free services available, maybe the smoker doesn't pay but somebody does, the taxpayer of course. Note as well that we are third in tobacco taxation (typical CT) sand ask yourself exactly where the senate Dems and Malloy will get funds to replace that money as smoking continues to be reduced. People not smoking is good. But don't be fooled into thinking that cigarette smoking COSTS the state money, it generates millions more than it costs. Another case of irresponsible financial practices sucking money from the citizenry for no reason except they can. Take a moment to think about how much other taxes will skyrocket to close the gap, even though we regularly operate in the red anyway, as smoking dwindles. For now they just keep upping the tobacco tax but that is another unsustainable practice. But we deserve it for electing the same losers election after election.
The reality is this site has been ruined for over a year by fake people pretending top be other posters, creating several screen names, acting like little children and creating an atmosphere in which intelligent discourse is impossible. The Daily Voice should REQUIRE people to use real names or at least pay attention enough to remove the posters who abuse what could be a great asset to the community. But honestly I don't think there is any real moderation and what little I see seems almost as bad as the small minded people causing the issues. Iv noticed many times comments getting deleted apparently based solely on expressing conservative views while posts like those ion this thread, useless childish bickering and silliness, are left to stand. They do nothing about posters imitating others screen names, including mine. Sad really but sad and childish seems the norm in many things around CT. View Comment
He wants to make CT an even better place to live, work and raise a family? Wait a minute, isn't he the same guy that voted to raise taxes, helped drive out thousands of jobs, and voted for a law that not only did nothing to make our kids safer but actually makes us all less safe?
Its almost funny hearing the people directly responsible for our states dismal current situation talk about making it "even better" The more I listen to this stuff the more I question the intelligence of people that vote for these guys.
Yup more work to do, they haven driven out all the tax payers yet. The people of CT seem more inclined in putting people in the poor house so they can beg for grants and Duff can get his picture taken with the poor he helped create.
Yup, useless Republican that has employees in profitable businesses, knows how to make money and survive in this pathetic liberal cesspool of a state. How many jobs has Malloy created? How many profitable businesses has he run? He can't even run a state where the legislature drools over his every word in a financially sound manner. You idiots elected a man who never contributed anything to this state, rather he has made a fortune off of it. Fool is a generous term for people too dumb to think past what they have been told and see that fifty years of Democrat control has about killed us. Go back into your tenement with your welfare check and smoke some crack. View Comment
Oh well, why expect an intelligent outcome when this has been the norm for decades and decades. Congrats Bob, please TRY to help the working people this go round if you have time between photo ops with the poor people, created by Dem policies.
A quick look at the comments here and the way democrats invent new identities to post as different people shows clearly the level of intelligence we are talking about. Idiocy must be a Democrat requirement. View Comment
The pollution you talk about has been here for decades, the issue at hand was a more recent fast developing one, banning those pesticides seems to be helping. That said I'm not hiving Bob Duff, Perone or any legislator credit for it. They just happened to be there, they didn't look for an answer or care about the problem. The issue was brought to them, they did what anybody in their position would do and don't deserve credit for it. Just as they ignore most things unless it can make them look good they ignored the lobster issue until they got a photo op. I'm not a fisherman a pond I knew something was wrong just by living here and noticing how the lobster men disappeared. I wouldn't say these men are hanging around with politicians. The politicians just used them to get pictures for the election. Just like Duff has been at the ST Anne's club serving the last two monthly dinners only because of the election. Never see him until election time and that says a lot about his priorities. The CT Democrats are a bunch of self serving people only interested in getting elected. They killed our state and still boast about "Standing up for you" nothing is further from the truth. Best thing we can do is clean house and tide ourselves of the poison in our state, the Democrat majority in Hartford. View Comment
In CT its simple. If the Democrats haven't gotten it right yet, and its obvious they haven't, after decades and decades, then its kinda silly to think they're going to. Lets NOT saddle the country with our poor decisions by flooding Washington with our Liberal Democrats. Vote smart, vote Debicella! View Comment
Just for the record the idiot spouting garbage in the thread isn't me. Just a typical liberal doing what they do best, pretending, fantasy is how they get by. Jim is a disgrace to CT and a part of the reason why our state and nation are in a pitiful state. CTs refusal to admit that the Democrats as directly responsible for ALL out state issues is baffling. The fact that people consider a mans efforts to thwart, not the gun lobby as the writer claims, but all of our basic civil rights, a good thing says much about the level of ignorance needed to vote for the people dragging us down. Going against the intentions of the founders of not only our nation, but the state itself should be shameful, but they brag about it. Ignoreing the obvious reality that liberal gun control, passed by first washington & then CT Democrats, is the biggest contributor the deaths that spawned the most recent law here.
Vote the Democrats OUT everyplace you can. They ARE in power and they ARE the ones who created the state we live in. View Comment
A voice of moderate reason in a sea of liberal sewage that is the CT legislature. My only issue is she voted for Malloys "Let honest people get killed" gun bill. Our issues are widespread here and while civil rights matter most to me our finances NEED at least as much attention. Thirty years of liberal folly have almost buried us.
Did I miss it or did the Daily Voice not mention Travis Simms arrest for breaking the law that his fellow Democrats shoved down our throats? Thats MUCH more newsworthy this close to an election that three kids smoking pot. This guy is held up as a role model, an example of people moving up from the projects to a productive life. And he leaves a loaded gun in a car in a bad neighborhood, along with a banned magazine loaded beyond legal limits, yet nothing? View Comment
Its a no brainer. Mickey Mouse should be able to beat Malloy today. Hopefully the CT voters will look around long enough to notice the everything and anything wrong with CT today is due to the Democratic party. View Comment
