There was as much controversey then as now. So now, the BSA discriminates against only TWO classes of people: (1) adult homosexuals, and (2) ALL atheists and agnostics. It will be rather odd when a gay scout is required to leave the organization when he turns 18, no? Will we wait another 40 years for the BSA to shed its remaining bigotry? Okay, here we go: 1) $143 of grocery items fit into one purse? 2) At any other store the same items would have been less than half that cost 3) So, maybe if they had chosen a different store it would only be 7th degree larceny? 4) Maybe Whole Foods needs to be charged with something? View Comment

Greg Edelston is a courageous young man and social activist. I wish him luck, and I will sign the petition today. Although rarely mentioned, the Boy Scouts also discriminate against atheists. Gays and atheists -- these are the only two groups overtly rejected by the Boy Scouts. The Girl Scouts, on the other hand, have no such policy of discrimination. View Comment

This is a disgrace. Connecticut has joined the race to the bottom by paying companies to be here. CT taxpayers have just paid a private company $57,500 per job to move 200 jobs here. Ridiculous. This is exactly NOT what government is for. Last August Malloy paid Bridgewater Associates $115 million to create 1,000 new jobs over 10 years (yes, that's $115,000 PER JOB!). Bridgewater was already in CT, with 1,225 employees, and their business already had been growing for years. I'm sure the owner just figured out he could get the idiots in the CT statehouse to pay him for what he already was doing. I think it's time to take the keys away from these people. View Comment

The Second Amendment should only apply to "arms" which existed in 1791, when it was ratified: swords, knives, and muzzle loading black powder pistols and muskets. There is no way it should apply to semi-automatic high caliber military rifles with 100 round magazines, just as the Supreme Court already has determined that it does not apply to fully automatic weapons. Or explosives. Or bombs. The gun nuts can keep their muskets and have the exact same rights as people did when the 2nd Amendment was first ratified. View Comment

I think a bigger problem is that people convicted of a felony lose access to important and often urgently needed public assistance benefits, like subsidized housing. This becomes a disaster for the kids that are affected. I hope the family gets help. View Comment

Agreed: well done, Councilman Kimmel. But you are far too diplomatic, and less useful for a often poorly informed resident like myself. Can someone please help: what are the names of the president of the Common Council (and former Chairman of the Second Taxing District), and who is the current general manager of the Second Taxing District? Based on the facts presented in your article, it appears to me that these people are either ignorant, incompetent, or negligent, or some combination, with respect to their jobs (and former job). Whatever the case, they strike me as unqualified to serve in their present positions. Doesn't Norwalk, and the Second Taxing District, deserve better? View Comment
