Baby New Year: Wilton Couple's Third Child First Newborn At Greenwich Hospital In 2024
It didn't take long after the clock struck midnight for the first baby to be born at Greenwich Hospital in 2024. Sloane Margaret Bristow entered the world at 12:57 am on Monday, Jan. 1. He is the third child for Caitlin and Daniel Bristow of Wilton. The baby girl weighed 8 pounds, 15 ounces. Greenwich Hospital delivered more than 2,500 babies in 2023.

A Fairfield County man is behind bars after allegedly vandalizing several cars and forcing his way into an apartment with people inside, including children. The incident took place in Greenwich around 10:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14 in the area of Mill Street and Henry Street. A car wash employee suffered serious injuries after being run over by a customer in Fairfield County. The incident took place in Greenwich at the Splash Car Wash at 73 Post Road around 10:20 a.m., on Monday, July 10. An initial investigation determined that an employee of the car wash was struck by a vehicle exiting the wash. Connecticut State Police are searching for witnesses after a fatal two-vehicle crash on I-95 in Greenwich. Colin D. Kennedy, age 47, of Stamford, was killed around 1:45 a.m., Friday, June 30 on I-95 after drifting out of his lane and eventually hitting another car head-on, said the Connecticut State Police. Fairfield County resident Kurt Hothorn Jr., of Greenwich, died at Greenwich Hospital on Friday, Sept. 23, according to his obituary. One of Connecticut’s largest hospital systems is changing its visiting policy due to the steep rise of newly reported COVID-19 infections. Yale New Haven Health announced on Wednesday, Dec. 22 that visitors to admitted patients in all its hospitals will have to show proof of being fully vaccinated or a negative PCR test, or else be turned away at the door. Patient Accused Of Assaulting Staffer At Greenwich Hospital
A Fairfield County man was arrested for allegedly attacking an area hospital employee and making threats. Brian Dougherty, age 51, of Stamford, was arrested around 3:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 30, after Greenwich Police Officers responded to Greenwich Hospital, authorities said. Dougherty assaulted a member of the hospital staff and made threats, said Greenwich PD Capt. Mark E. Zuccerella. He was charged with assaulting a public health worker, threatening, and disorderly conduct. Dougherty was held on a $10,000 bond which he was unable to post.

Greenwich Hospital’s first baby of 2021 arrived shortly after midnight. Baby Lilah made her debut on Friday, Jan. 1 at 12:02 a.m, weighing 8 pounds, 8.3 ounces. This is the first baby for Dana and Matthew Wrigley of Stamford. Greenwich Hospital welcomed more than 2,700 babies into the world in 2020.

Man, 21, Pronounced Dead In Greenwich After Apparent Accidental Drowning
A 21-year-old man died after what authorities say appears to be an accidental drowning. The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was found around 7:15 p.m. Friday, June 12 in Westchester near Rye Playland and the Edith Read Sanctuary. EMS personnel performed CPR on the man at the scene. He was pronounced dead at Greenwich Hospital. Signs posted in the area say that swimming, fishing and kayaking are not permitted. Fire Reported At Greenwich Hospital, Officials Say
A fire has been reported at an area hospital treating many with patients with novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The blaze began around 3 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, at Greenwich Hospital, the Greenwich Fire Department said on Twitter. The fire was reported in a generator area and involved some debris in a shaftway, the department said. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within minutes, officials said on Twitter. A woman who died in a weekend house fire in Westchester has been identified. Cecelia Kussner, 85, was killed around 12:10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 22, in the fire at 490 Midland Ave. in Rye. A Greenwich police officer died suddenly Tuesday, Dec. 17, during a medical emergency, the department said. Justin Quagliani, 38, died around 5 a.m., after suffering a medical emergency at his Greenwich residence while off-duty, said the Greenwich Police Department.
