The third game remained close until the end. With Darien leading 8-4, Greenwich tied it up. The teams remained within a point of each other for much of the rest of the game, until it stood at 18-16 in favor of Darien. The Blue Wave then went on a tear, scoring five points in a row. Greenwich scored one before Darien put it away, 25-17.

“Their skill level was a little higher today. They had a higher consistency of attack and a great defense,” Greenwich coach Steve Lapham said. “We had our chances, but they kept us in the backcourt with constant pressure. Their center did a great job.”

Greenwich will next play Trinity Catholic High School at home at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
