Westport's Paliotta Agrees To Deal With Chicago Blackhawks

WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport’s Mike Paliotta agreed to a two-year deal with the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League on Thursday.

Paliotta is a senior at the University of Vermont. He was the third-round selection of the Blackhawks in the 2011 draft.

“Excited to join @NHLBlackhawks organization,’’ Paliotta said via Twitter @mikepaliotta93. “Thanks to teammates/coaches/family for helping me get to this point. Can't wait to get started." 

Paliotta finished the 2014-15 season with a team-high 36 points (9 goals, 27 assists) in 41 games for Vermont. He was named a 2015 Second-Team All-Hockey East selection and received the Old Time Hockey Best Defensive Defenseman award. Paliotta’s 36 points ranked sixth in the NCAA in defensive scoring.

Paliotta helped Team USA win a gold medal at the 2011 U18 World Junior Championship. He also won gold at the 2010 U17 World Hockey Challenge with Team USA,.

Paliotta played in high school at Choate Rosemary Hall.
