Skyliners Skaters Competing in Massachusetts

GREENWICH, Conn. – Skaters from Greenwich and Cos Cob will be part of the Skyliners Synchronized Skating Team junior line when it competes this weekend in the Colonial Classic in Lowell, Mass. They'll try to qualify for a competition in Sweden.

Greenwich’s Alexandra Scarpulla and Cos Cob’s Brooke Abbott and Mairead Brock will be competing for the Skyliners. The top two teams in the junior division will represent the United States in the Junior World Challenge Cup in Goteborg, Sweden, on March 15-17. Brock and Abbott were members of last year’s Junior team, which finished fifth in the Junior World Challenge and won the U.S. championship.

Seven other Skyliners' lines will compete at the Colonial Classic, the last competition before they head to the Eastern Sectional Championships in Hershey, Pa., at the end of January. This competition determines which teams advance to the National Championships in Worcester, Mass., from Feb. 29-March 3.

The Skyliners include girls from throughout Fairfield County. They represent the Springdale Figure Skating Club of Stamford and the Skating Club of New York. Results of this weekend's competition will be posted online .
