WESTPORT, Conn. – Alex Gendelman scored 27 points for Rye Country Day in a 83-64 boys basketball victory Thursday over Greens Farms Academy in a Fairchester Athletic Association game. Darien’s Patrick Ryan scored 20 points for the Dragons.

Rye Country Day (3-1) led 31-25 at halftime. It also enjoyed a 22-12 advantage in free throws, as Greens Farms battled foul trouble for most of the evening.

“We focused a ton on trying to reduce our fouls against them, but they are just very, very good at drawing the foul,’’ Greens Farms coach Doug Scott said. “We were like bears that could not resist reaching for the honey, no matter how many times we were getting stung.”

Rye Country Day attempted 31 free throws, compared to 20 for Greens Farms.

Greenwich’s Sean Obi scored 10 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for Greens Farms. Tremont Waters, a seventh grader from New Haven, added 15 points. Hunter Eggers, of Greenwich, contributed nine points and six assists.
