Rangers Hockey Star to Play at Greenwich Jamboree

GREENWICH, Conn. – One of the most successful goaltenders in New York Rangers history will take part in the Greenwich Boys & Girls Club’s Hockey Jamboree on March 3 and 4.

Though participants won’t get a chance to try to score off Mike Richter, they can say they got the chance to play with the goalie who help the Rangers win the 1994 Stanley Cup.

The jamboree benefits club activities for kids ages 6 to 18. Registration for the 3-on-3 Hockey Jamboree is $1,500 per team, which includes up to six players and a goalie. The club can provide a goalie for teams. Admission is for players and their families.

There also will be a party and live performance by the Zambonis, Connecticut’s own indie “hockey” rock band. The group is about to release its new album, “Five Minute Major (In D Minor).” “We’re the only band in the world whose two biggest influences are The Beatles and Wayne Gretzky,” says band member Dave Schneider.

Cost of admission to the party is $50 per family before Feb. 24. Tickets include admission to the hockey tournament March 3 and 4, the afterparty with the Zambonis, as well as free skate rentals, food and refreshments.

The jamboree takes place at Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich Skating Rink, 4 Horseneck Lane, Greenwich.

Tickets can purchased online before the event. The price will be $75 per family after Feb. 24.
