Old Greenwich-Riverside U-11 Soccer Thrives

The Old Greenwich-Riverside Community Center U-11 girls soccer team just completed a succesful season. It is one of a dozen travel teams that make up the South West District of the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association U-11 girls division. The Old Greenwich-Riverside Blue team's season began April 10 and ran through June 12. The team competed in a division that included two teams from Fairfield and single teams from the Greenwich Soccer Association, Monroe, New Canaan, Newtown, Westport, Wilton and Ridgefield.

"Outscored but never outgunned, the U11 traveling team, Blue Thunder, has traveled near and far to take on some tough competitors," said team manager Ken Bloom."  "As a recently formed team, it has focused on teamwork, strategy and mental preparation in order to improve individual and collective skills. Under coach Tony Crespo, players have honed their ball-handling skills, their position alignment and their sportsmanship this season, with the plan that next year, as U12, they will be an even stronger group."
