NORWALK, Conn. – Three Norwalk players and their Warriors Baseball Club teammates are headed to South Carolina this week to complete in a national tournament.

Mike Gonzalez, Ryan Searles, Kevin Woodring and the rest of the Warriors, a 13-and under team based in Greenwich, will be among 64 other teams playing for Triple Crown Sports’ National Championship. The Warriors will play teams from Georgia, New Jersey and Virginia in the first round, which begins on Saturday.

The Warriors also feature six players from Greenwich, two players from New Canaan and two from Harrison, N.Y. The team has compiled an overall record of 38-16-2. The Warriors earned entry into the national event by winning a Triple Crown regional tournament, the Father’s Day Classic, held in June in North Branford.

Warriors from Greenwich include Bailey Ballone, Daniel Curley, Andrew D’Autilio, Erik Mini, Daniel Pastore and Marco Pastore. The New Canaan players are Alex Dolby and Troy Dunnam, and the players from Harrison are Andrew Gurgitano and Daniel Klein.

Nick Ballone, manager of the Warriors Baseball Club, said, “We feel good about our chances of making a strong showing in the national tournament, having just come off a successful tournament in New Jersey last weekend, where we won two games and tied one. Also, as the runner-up in the New York Elite League spring season, we understand what it is like to compete well in big games.”
