Rice was a star at New Rochelle High School, where he led the 2003 Huguenots to a New York State Class AA football title before going on to a record-setting career at Rutgers University and then to the National Football League.

The Ravens defeated the San Francicso 49ers to win the Super Bowl and Rice was later honored by the city in a celebration at City Hall.

Rice spends a good number of his summers in New Rochelle, where his family still lives. His Ray Rice Day event is attended by hundreds of youngsters. New Rochelle High School retired Rice's No. 5 high school jersey.

“I dedicated this to my cousin Shaun (Myshaun Rice-Nichols) and everyone, my mother, family and coaches who helped me along the way,” Rice said in his remarks after being presented the jersey by New Rochelle Coach Lou DiRienzo. “They say it takes the whole village to raise a child and so many people helped me.” The one-day clinic features football instruction, activities, games, lunch, photo opportunities and autographs for the hundreds of children in the camp.

The camp is full to capacity. Food and other vendors are participating and the event is open to the public.

Fosina Field is located at 460 Fifth Ave. in New Rochelle.
