Blake had previously announced he would retire after the annual event, and Ivo Karlovic ended his career with a 6-7 (2), 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (2) 7-6 (2) victory.
Blake, 33, a Yonkers native, lives is Westport and is a Fairfield High School graduate. He reached 24 finals and ranked as high as No. 4 in the world. He reached the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open in 2005 and 2006. He finished with a 61-42 record in the four majors, finished fourth in the 2008 Olympics and helped the U.S. win the Davis Cup in 2007.
Wednesday’s match ended after midnight, and he thanked fans at the stadium who stayed to see his final match.
