Greenwich's John Hayden Drafted By Chicago Blackhawks

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Greenwich's John Hayden, who is on his way to play hockey for NCAA champions Yale, was selected in the third round of the NHL draft by the Stanley Cup winner Chicago Blackhawks, according to the NHL website.   

Hayden, who was born in Chicago, was the 74th pick overall. He is a center on the U.S. National Team Development Program and is committed to play NCCA college hockey with Yale in the ECAC Hockey conference, according to his Wikipedia page. He is 6-foot-2 and weighs 220 pounds.

He was ranked 29th among North American skaters by the NHL Central Scouting Bureau in the final rankings before the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Hayden was a member of the USA Hockey National Team Development Program for both the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons. He previously played at Brunswick.
