The Greenwich outdoor track teams finished fourth (girls) and ninth (boys) Tuesday in the Class LL state meet in New Britain.
The girls team dominated in the relays. The 4 x 400 was one of the most exciting races of the day, with Greenwich breaking 4 minutes and bringing home the gold in 3:59.10. In addition, the 4 x 800 relay placed second with a time of 9:28.46 and the 4 x 100 fifth at 50.36.
The boys got their only gold medal in the 4 x 100 relay, in which the top 11 teams finished within a second of one another. The Cardinals flew in with a time of 43.42.
In the 400, Amanda Michaud was second for the girls in 59.49 and Kelly Ryan third for the boys at 49.44. Abagial Markowitz came in first in the girls 800 at 2:17.42 and Cate Wright was third in the 300 hurdles at 47.43.
Senior Tim Frazier was the star for the boys team, finishing in the top four in all three of his events, including the 4 x 100 relay. He placed fourth in both the 100 and 200 at 11.30 and 23.06 respectively.
In the field events, Claire D'etiveaud got the silver in the girls high jump, clearing 5 feet, and Tyler Helmrich took fourth in the boys javelin at 154 feet 7 inches.
