Greenwich High School's Lauren Miller and Harry McGuire won first place at the Connecticut State High School Fencing Championship for individual foil at the Hopkins School in New Haven. This is the third time Miller has won the state title, a record accomplishment for the sport in Connecticut.
Lauren has been fencing since age 9 and is currently ranked 15th in the United States for women's foil fencers. Her high school coach, left, is Orest Stetsiv. She trains at the Fencing Academy of Westchester in Hawthorne, N.Y. Lauren will be fencing at Yale University in New Haven in the fall. McGuire also trains there.
