Greenwich Dolphins Swimmer Wins 5 Golds At Eastern Zone Meet

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Greenwich swimmer Meghan Lynch, 12, set a state record in the 200 individual medley and won five gold medals at the recent Eastern Zone Long Course Age Group Championships.

In the meet at held at the Collegiate School Aquatic Center in Richmond, Va., the Greenwich Dolphins swimmer set an Eastern Zone and state record in the individual medley with a time of 2:23.51, which is 12th all-time in the history of USA Swimming Age Group results. Olympian Missy Franklin holds the record at 2:19.12.

Lynch also won a gold medal in the 50 meter breaststroke in 34.37, the 24th fastest time in USA Swimming history.

She also won three gold medals in relays, a silver in the 200 breaststroke and a bronze in the 400 freestyle.

Lynch, who celebrated her birthday during the meet, has been re-writing records for the Dolphins for the past few years, and now owns nearly every record for the team in the 8-and-under, 10-and-under and 12-and-under age groups.
