Ray Floyd Jr. of Old Greenwich earned medalist honors for the U.S. Mid-Amateur during Thursday's qualifying tournament at Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle. Floyd Jr. posted a 5-under-par 67 to win by two shots over Gary Spector.
Greenwich's John Crowley and Richard Woolworth also secured berths in the U.S. Mid-Am. Crowley finished third with a two-under-par 70, while Woolworth shot 73. He survived a five-way playoff to grab the last qualifying spot.
The U.S. Mid-Am, for players ages 25-and-over, will be played Sept. 25-30 at Atlantic Golf Club in Bridgehampton, N.Y.
