FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Easton’s Chris Thomas ran away from the field for an easy victory in his first triathlon of the season, the Harryman Olympic Triathlon Sunday at Harriman State Park in New York.

Several of Thomas’ students at his fitness training facility, Personal Training Professions of Southport, also fared well. Fairfield’s Pascale Butcher finished fifth among women and won her age group, while Ryan Haug was third overall. Hugh Davis finished fourth overall.

Thomas finished the 1.5 kilometer swim, 40-kilometer bike ride and 10-kilometer run in 2:15.22. Mark Diebolt of New York finished second in 2:22.31, and Haug was third in 2:28.23. Bryan French of Cos Cob (seventh, 2:34.01) and Michael Christie of Greenwich (13th, 2:38.47) were also among the top 15.

Thomas had the fastest time in two of the three disciplines. He finished with a 36:56 10k, and was the only runner under 40 minutes.

Butcher finished in 2:55:44, more than eight minutes ahead of her closest challenger in the 50-54 age group. Davis finished in 2:53:29.
