The 10K race and 1.5-mile fun run have become an institution in the Darien community, attracting more than 600 runners last year.

Since 1979, the race has raised more than $930,000 to support community social services and cancer support organizations. This year, proceeds from the race will go to the Community Fund of Darien, The Bennett Cancer Center at Stamford Hospital and The Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital.

Registration for runners older than 12 is $30 before the day of the race and $40 on the day of the competition. The fee for entrants under the age of 12 is $20.

Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in both overall and age category for the 10K run and the fun run.

The oldest and youngest runners to finish with the best times in both races will also be given awards.

A BMW bicycle will be awarded to the entrant that raises the most in contributions.
