FAIRFIELD, Conn. The Westport Police Athletic League and SportsCAPP.com will host Sports Concussion Safety Night Thursday at Saugatuck Elementary School in Westport. The free event begins at 7:30 p.m.
The speakers will include Dr. Michael Lee, a youth concussion expert, Norwalks Katherine Snedaker, a concussion educator, and Carm Roda, the Westport PAL Director of Youth Sports. Young athletes who play various sports also will talk about their experiences with concussions.
The speakers will discuss concussion facts for parents and kids, safety limitations of sports equipment, proper responses on the playing fields and playgrounds to head injuries, and new safety products and smart phone apps to help manage concussion symptoms.
