The 17-year-old Greenwich native has been a member of CP-AC Swim Team for three seasons, dating to the opening of Chelsea Piers Connecticut. Montesi and the team are coached by Jamie Barone. An accomplished swimmer, Barone also competed in two Olympic Trials and has been both nationally and globally ranked in the 100-meter breast stroke.

“Jack is a very hard worker who earned this trip to Omaha,” Barone said. “We are all proud to see a swimmer reach this level just three years after our program’s start. It has been a pleasure for the staff to watch him improve over the last three seasons.”

Montesi is the grandson of a Marie Corridon Mortell, who won a gold medal for the United States in the 1948 Summer Olympics. Mortell died in 2010. Montesi is the son of Margaret and John Montesi of Riverside.

About 1,500 of the top swimmers in the country qualify for the Olympic Trials, which will be held in June 2016 in Omaha, Neb. The Olympic Games will be held in August 2016 in Rio.
