FAIRFIELD, Conn. — With Fairfield American just one win shy of a berth in the Little League World Series, local fans are lining up behind their boys of summer.

Colony Grill on the Post Road will host a viewing party of Fairfield’s appearance in the New England championship game at 1 p.m. Saturday. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.

On Wednesday, Fairfield American beat Goffstown Junior Baseball of New Hampshire 9-4 to clinch a spot in the championship New England regional game.

In the title game, the boys from Fairfield will face South Portland American of Maine, which beat Essex Junction of Vermont on Friday, 7-6.

No matter the results, Saugatuck Sweets on Reef Road will treat the team and coaches to free ice cream when they return to Fairfield.

“Many of these players are regular customers at our shop…,” the ice cream and candy mecca announced on Facebook. “WIN FAIRFIELD AMERICAN WIN!!!!”

If Fairfield wins the championship, the team will head to Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.
