Four Fairfield County High Schools Rank Among Top 500 By U.S. News

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Eight high schools in Connecticut, including four in Fairfield County, are ranked among the Top 500 in the nation in a report released Tuesday from U.S.News and World Report.

The top high schools in the state, which earned a gold ranking in the report, are:

  • Amistad Academy in New Haven, #1 in Connecticut, #20 in Nation
  • Weston High School, #2 in Connecticut, #231 in Nation
  • East Granby High School, #3 in Connecticut, #294 in Nation
  • Ridgefield High School, #4 in Connecticut, #298 in Nation
  • Staples High School in Westport, #5 in Connecticut, #391 in Nation
  • Conard High School in West Hartford, #6 in Connecticut, #450 in Nation
  • New Canaan High School,  #7 in Connecticut, #464 in Nation
  • Farmington High School, #8 in Connecticut, #495 in Nation

Gold ranked schools are among the Top 500 in the nation based on the highest college readiness. 

Also, four high schools in Fairfield County were awarded a Silver ranking, which are high-performing schools based on lower college readiness. Here are the Silver-ranked schools:

  • Fairfield Ludlowe High School, #10 in Connecticut, #655 in Nation
  • Masuk High School in Monroe, #13 in Connecticut, #881 in Nation

  • The Academy of Information Technology & Engineering in Stamford, #20 in Connecticut, #1,619 in Nation

  • Trumbull High School, #32 in Connecticut, #2,518 in Nation

Bronze ranked schools are high-performing schools based on state exam performance, listed alphabetically. Here are the Bronze-ranked schools in Fairfield County:

  • Stratford High School, #35 in Connecticut 
  • Central High School in Bridgeport, #38 in Connecticut 
  • Henry Abbott Technical High School in Danbury, among Top 50 in Connecticut
