GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Taco Bell Foundation and Get Schooled Foundation have selected Sacred Heart Greenwich senior Daisy Flores for a $1,000 college scholarship in the “Graduate for Más Times Square Yearbook Scholarship.”

As a scholarship winner, Flores' picture will be featured in Times Square. It will appear Wednesday, June 8, at noon on a six-story digital billboard overlooking one of the world's busiest intersections.

Flores, a resident of New Rochelle, N.Y., will graduate from Sacred Heart Greenwich on Friday, June 3, and will attend American University in the fall. She has attended Sacred Heart since sixth-grade.

The Fourth Annual Times Square Yearbook recognizes high school students for the ways they are creating their own paths toward success in life.

Flores was among thousands of students from across the U.S. who shared their ambition and passions with Times Square Yearbook Scholarship in hopes of winning a scholarship.

Flores enlightened the scholarship committee on how Sacred Heart Greenwich has enabled her to pursue her specific goals in music and change the lives of others.

The scholarship committee shared Flores' award-winning words, which will appear over Times Square with her photo:

“Music has always been an integral part of my life. Throughout my high school career, I have fostered my love of piano and used my skills to serve others by teaching the skill to disadvantaged youth.

"I have come to learn that music can have the effect and power to influence thoughts and inspire others, often serving as a way to communicate across various barriers such as language. In college, I hope to continue my study of music and expand the demographic that I can invoke change in.”

Flores completed 349 hours of service over her four years in the Upper School at Sacred Heart. She has been a dedicated volunteer at Songcatchers, teaching piano lessons to students who could not otherwise afford music lessons.

Mentoring middle school-age girls, she has worked as a volunteer with Positively More in Greenwich. She has also served the elderly and given back to Sacred Heart.

In April, REACH Prep awarded Flores a scholarship at its annual REACH Scholars.
