Rye Country Day Teens Remember Shooting Victims In 'Just 17 Minute' Walkout

More than 200 students and faculty members from Rye Country Day School "walked out" for 17 minutes at noon on Thursday March 1 to memorialize the 17 victims of the Parkland, Fla., mass shooting on Feb. 14.

Warren Kennedy-Nolle, a junior at Rye Country Day, said, "I'm happy to say that these were not just students, but members of the faculty and administration."

Kennedy-Nolle said that the staged walkout marked a remembrance of the victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.

During "Just Seventeen Minutes," at the Garden-level courtyard in front of the high school building. Kennedy-Nolle read the names of each slain student. 

Participation was voluntary.
