To that end, the library and Norwalk Public Schools held a rally at Tracey Elementary School Friday morning with Principal Theresa Rangel and other school officials telling stories of their first library cards and handing out card applications and free copies of the book “Lola at the Library.”
By Monday, every kindergartener in town should have an application.
Parents can bring the completed forms to the main library at 1 Belden Avenue or the South Norwalk branch at 10 Washington Street or simply return the applications to their children’s teachers and a library staff member will pick them up.
“Public library cards open up new worlds for children,” said Assistant Library Director Sherelle Harris. “Library cards are an extension of the education they’re receiving in school.”
