GREENWICH, Conn. -- Julian Curtiss Elementary School students are marking 25 years of the school's United Nations Day with a special assembly and parade Thursday at the Greenwich school.

The event is meant to showcase the diverse backgrounds of students and the world. Sixty countries will be represented in the 1 p.m. parade by the students, who will dress in their country's native clothing and carry its flag.

As in the past celebrations, United Nations Ambassador Joseph V. Reed is the guest speaker. There will also be music from the Julian Curtiss Charaleers.

The parade and ceremony will be followed by an International Food Tasting event at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the school at 180 E. Elm St.
