The students recognized were Emily Silk and Mary Nichols, both students at The Harvey School.
To receive this honor, the students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 in Japanese and a 3.0 or higher overall.
Their accomplishment “not only reflects the outstanding academic performance of the students, but also their genuine interest in learning about other cultures,” Tim Cornell, Japanese language teacher, said.
Silk, a graduating senior, plans to attend George Washington University in the fall, and was also honored by the Lower Hudson Council of School Superintendents in May at its 48th Annual Scholastic Achievement Dinner.
Nichols was a junior, and she was presented with five major awards at The Harvey School’s Underclassmen Awards Ceremony in May.
The Harvey School in Katonah is a co-ed college preparatory school for sixth-graders through seniors.
